Draga & Aurel is a multidisciplinary studio based in Como, working across art, collectible design, and product design. Founded in 2007 by designer Draga Obradovic and artist Aurel K. Basedow, the studio is internationally recognized for an original language that merges rigorous design methodology with an artistic approach to material, composition, and form. Their first collections,Deshabillé(2007) andHeritage(2009), marked their debut in the design world and introduced pioneering experimentation with upcycling vintage objects, reinterpreted through a contemporary sensibility.

During Milan Design Week 2019, the studio presentedTransparency Matters: a collection of eleven entirely handmade collectible design pieces exploring transparency as both an aesthetic and conceptual value. For Draga & Aurel, transparency is an attitude — clear, luminous, authentic. The collection decisively defined the studio’s identity, blending references to the artistic and cultural ferment of the 1970s with material research focused on resin, concrete, and metals. Within the studio, art and design run on parallel, complementary tracks, in a constant dialogue that reinforces,  and sometimes subverts, their meanings.
